A true bibliophile, Dr. Alice Hixson, has a passion and dedication that keeps us finding the best ways to promote books to new audiences. Dr. Hixson began her career in publishing in Minneapolis, MN then became a lifelong music educator whose resume includes dozens of productions of world music, American folk songs, and co-creating original opera with elementary school students. Her work won many grants for students in the arts. After working for the Department of Defense as an administrator of music and art education, she came home to find Kansas City rocking and rolling with arts and decided to jump in for the ride. She defines her job as “looking for cool and fabulous ways for the authors and artists to connect to their audience.” You may find her with a coffee cup in hand either out and about with extended family, attending an arts event, or staying at the home office to write, advise or edit projects with Flying Ketchup Press.

Our first Workshop! Please come! and share with other writers and authors!

Does the thought of having to promote your upcoming or newly-released book make you want to run, scream, or take a fast flight to Bogata, never to return? Would you rather scrub your grout, clean grime off your hubcaps, dust every baseboard in your house than face the prospect of figuring out how to do your own PR?

We’re going to change all of that. We’re going to streamline it, make it workable. In this course you will learn simple strategies to promote your book—strategies that are easy on the soul. Things that won’t consume your life or require you to be some kind of social media guru. Things you can do easily and with the skills you already have. All you need to make this work is willingness to try. That’s it.
